Married and father of four children. This means I ride mainly when everyone is asleep. This may explain why I never seem to have a tan; it seems it is always dark or nearly so when I am riding. I mainly like to race off road, but since I am too fat and out of shape for the long-ish MTB races I tend to focus on the 45-50 minute cyclocross races which allow me to finish before I vomit and pass out…usually.
Here are some of my brief highlight/lowlights:
During the mid to late 90’s I helped build and design a few full suspension mountain bikes for a company that failed miserably. It was fun. Wait, no it wasn’t, I was so traumatized by that experience that I ditched bikes for about 3 years.
During that time I sold cars and made more money than I knew what to do with at the time so I bought as many supersize meals as I could and got friggin’ huge. Kinda like Val Kilmer. Finally took a look in the mirror and got back on the bike and became less huge. Now I am just pleasantly plump. I decided to ditch the car biz and go to law school. We moved to Portland in 2004 and love it.
Bottom line, I am convinced that I was invited to join because HFV needed someone to buy all the larger sized clothes that my skinny teammates mistakenly buy but can’t use.
